Meditation is the attempt to focus on...nothing! It's the "act" of doing nothing, clearing your head, and refocusing. Sometimes, meditation is paired with breathing or visualization techniques to provide an instant feeling of focus and calm. However, when done regularly, meditation can offer many long lasting benefits. Some of these benefits can include:
  • Gaining a new perspective on a stressful situation
  • More focus and better sleep
  • Reducing negative emotions

You can also follow the breathing meditation exercise to the left to begin a meditation right now!

The instructions are very simple:
  • ​Focus your attention on the ring of color
  • As the ring grows, deeply inhale
  • As the ring gets smaller, exhale
  • Focus on the sensation of your breath 
  • Try to clear your mind as you're breathing
  • ​If thoughts intrude, let them pass
  • Repeat until you feel a sense of calm

It's recommended that you meditate for at least 5-10 minutes twice a day to experience the full benefits of this powerful mental health tool.
